Showing up
Nearly 300 hours of volunteer work across two organizations, and counting. I'm still active in both today.
01By the numbers
02Little Friends For Peace
Arlington, Virginia
I assist a lead counselor in guiding children through cooperative activities and bonding exercises, including art, music, games, and community circles. The goal is to build trust and connection among the kids while giving them a structured, supportive space to grow.
03Montessori Public School of Arlington
School & PTA Sponsored Events
I've volunteered at school-sponsored and PTA-sponsored events for years, helping with setup and breakdown, guiding children through activities, handling cashier duties, and running art activities. This is where most of my volunteer hours come from, built up steadily over time through consistent, repeat involvement.
04Why this matters to me
Volunteering with kids has shaped how I think about people, patience, and community, the same things that draw me toward psychology.
Whether I'm running an art activity at MPSA or facilitating a community circle at Little Friends For Peace, I'm practicing the same skills: reading a room, adapting to what people need in the moment, and creating an environment where someone feels comfortable being themselves. Those are skills I want to carry into whatever career I build in psychology.
